CBD is an acronym for Cannabidiol one of many Phyto cannabinoids found in the hemp or cannabis plant. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the most well-known Phyto cannabinoid and is associated with marijuana’s psychoactive properties. Unlike THC, CBD does not cause a “high” effect and acts on the body’s endocannabinoid system, creating physical changes in the body, which can be beneficial in many ways.

The endocannabinoid system is a collection of endogenous cannabinoid receptors, called CB-1 and CB-2 receptors, found in the brain, central and peripheral nervous system of all mammals, fish, reptiles, and birds. The eCS acts as a biological regulator of the body’s other 6 major systems; immune, nervous, digestive, endocrine, reproductive and muscular operating much like a lock and key. Beside its preventive and protective mechanisms, the eCS works to promote homeostasis (equilibrium) within these body systems. The body can suffer an endocannabinoid deficiency from what was coined by Ethan Russo, MD as ‘Clinical Endocannabinoid Deficiency Syndrome’ (eCB Syndrome for short) to describe this problem. eCB Syndrome occurs when the eCB system is not producing enough endocannabinoids to manage the job of regulating the other systems, hence the deficiency. Phytocannabinoids found in plants fit into the body’s cannabinoid receptor sites. They closely mimic the endogenous cannabinoids the body produces. This provides the boost needed to bring the body back to homeostasis and balance.

NO, standard hemp oil (the kind you find at Wal-Mart and other grocery chains) cold presses hemp seeds only, whereas our hemp extract is a full plant extraction with many components not typically found in the seeds. Hemp seed oil is great nutritive food, but it doesn’t have the whole plant, naturally occurring terpenes, cannabinoids and other components that our extracts have.

Terpenes and Cannabinoids are chemical compounds found in hemp (cannabis) plants. There are about 140 aromatic organic compounds known as terpenes and 100+ compounds classified as cannabinoids. Terpenes are responsible for the aromatic properties of cannabis and other living plants. The FDA generally recognizes terpenes as “safe”. Cannabinoids and terpenes interact with the CB1, CB2, and neurotransmitters in the body. Two of the better-known cannabinoids are Tetrahydro-cannabinol (THC), the psychoactive cannabinoid, and Cannabidiol (CBD), the dominant, non-psychoactive cannabinoid produced by the cannabis plant.

Full Spectrum means a complete cannabinoid profile including legal trace amounts of THC (federal legal limit is 0.3% or less). While Broad Spectrum is the same as Full Spectrum minus the 0.3% THC. And Isolate is THC-free, 100% Cannabidiol with no other cannabinoids. The ‘Entourage Effect’ (the combination of cannabinoids, terpenes, and other compounds working together) is based on Full Spectrum.

It depends on the type of product you take. If it is Full Spectrum containing the federal legal amount of 0.3% THC, it is possible to receive a false positive on certain drug tests. Broad Spectrum and Isolate should not cause a failed drug test because these do not contain THC.

For now, the USDA is not certifying hemp companies with the organic badge but we do have the organically grown badge.

Certificates of analysis are test results from third-party companies which prove a company’s products are as advertised. Most states require such testing for hemp-based products, though the specifics of exactly what tests are required varies between states. There are no such requirements for hemp, but we believe consumers have the right to know what’s in their pets’ supplements. We also believe disclosing COA information about the end product, not proprietary or trade secret details.
